Natural landscape in Hotel Rantapuisto
We loved Hotel Rantapuisto as welcoming, authentic, wholesome. We had a seaside view, twin-bed room which felt comfortable and spacious. The deep windows bring woods and water close; one night we had a panoramic storm scene. The breakfast buffet is extensive with porridge, yoghurt, berries, cereal, boiled eggs, warm Karelia pies, cold cuts and roll-top chafing dishes of meaty and hot fare. Also a waffle-maker and enormous jars of Nutella. That's if you don’t go for the simplicity of health bread and help yourself from a frame of dripping raw honeycomb (hives in the grounds) We had just been at Hotel Helka in Helsinki (former YWCA) and at Rantapuisto, the hotel seemed to be run by women. For my niece and I, this was great, very inspiring actually and a lovely, homely atmosphere. We were checked in by cheery Kaisu and checked out by efficient Essi. The lovely 'breakfast lady’ gave all tables notice of the buffet being laid up and she helped me tray breakfast in bed for an exhausted teenager. The sauna is in keeping with the 1960s architecture and near to the Sea View rooms. You can go outside and follow the track to the beach, walk along and dip off the jetty. It’s not as close as you might like but once we’d figured it out, we just got on and enjoyed. The next best bit: borrowing the (iconic 60s style) Jopo bikes, cycling to the paddling centre and hiring kayaks. You have to do it! The place is just along the track on the way to Vuosaari. They do fat bikes also https://naturaviva.fi/en_US/destinations/vuosaari-paddling-center Hotel Rantapuisto’s own website is very comprehensive. I recommend it for all the detail it contains including the dinner menu and prices.

Hotel had really interesting style of 60s-70s but I personally really liked it. Some places and areas would require a bit of renovating to make it even nicer but the general architecture and atmosphere was really cool. The room was small but newly renovated and in good condition. The beds were comfortable but a bit small. Same story with bathroom. All was clean and pleasant but simply a bit too small for longer stay - for weekend for us good enough. There was kettle and tea/coffee in the room same as hair dryer and all the necessary cosmetics. There was also ironing board and kitchen available in the building when necessary. The WI-FI worked very well in the room. There was free parking. The breakfast was tasty with many different products to choose from. The hotel is amazingly located in the forest next to the beach. We had also lovely sea view, it was calm and quiet. Check-in went smoothly, the personal was friendly and helpful. There is gym and sauna available free of charge in the designated hours.

What a view, we had a seaside room which I would highly recommend. Hotel is big and has fantastic nostalgic vibes, it is very quiet and a perfect place to recover. Breakfast is amazing and so tasty with regional, fresh products (the dark bread was a dream). It's quite a distance to Helsinki City and next bus station (and supermarket) is a 15 minutes walk. There is a shuttle bus to the metro in front of the Hotel but it only runs hourly and during the week. There is a ramp and a ladder to go for a comfortable swim in the lake. We really appreciated the privacy and solitude, enough space for everybody and no cues at breakfast.

The room & the facilities were fantastic. The location is ideal for peace & away from hustle bustle of the main city. The breakfast was great along with the timings for the same. The staff at the front desk was very helpful. The walk around the resort is also great. Our 2 yr old loved the walk around a small beach right at the property. The kids play area was very helpful also to keep her busy on the cold days.

It's a great location right by the sea. You can go for walks in the forrest or have a bit of both forrest and seaside walks. Facilities are perfect to read books, and unwind (hammocks etc.) Getting into Helsinki town takes about 20 mins by taxi // 50 mins by public transport (walk to underground station approximately 20 minutes). Design of the hotel is really great and special. Breakfast was great too.
